OUR BOAT CARPE DIEM

What can one say, when one has so much fun. When the weather is perfect and the river is like glass. Carpe’ Diem (just sees the moment and goes for it).

Living on the banks of the beautiful Richmond River for 15 years we had numerous water crafts which included a kayak, a small sailing boat, an old worn out tinnie, we had been wanting to purchase a new boat for sometime. When one works so hard day in and day out it was time to enjoy what was right in front of us ‘The river”.

So two years  ago we purchased a 5.3m Mako Craft vessel from Kim and Ken Fitzgibbon at Ballina Marineland. We had in mind what we wanted and with the assistance of Kim, Ken and staff, it wasn’t a hard decision. We wanted a vessel that both ourselves and our children could enjoy so the Mako Craft was just the perfect choice.

When our boat arrived, Ken took us for a run in it, he demonstrated with professionalism in showing us the safety aspects and mechanisms on how to use our boat. So we cruized up to the mouth of the Richmond River and Ken said ”the bar looks flat, I’LL show you what she can do”. So with lifejackets on (which already were supplied with the boat), out we went over the bar and what a buzz, we spotted a whale straight away, it was the best sales pitch ever.

The vessel is so much more comfortable than the old tinnie, the kids just love being towed behind the boat either on a batwing or wakeboarding. We fish in comfort and under shade, we have room for extra passengers which is great for kids. We have been out over the Ballina bar for whale watching and Joe takes the boys out deep fising off the reefs that Ken and the team with locak knowledge hasve shown us.

It has been a privilege to have done our business locally at Ballina Marineland they couldn’t have done enough for us.
